Welcome

The town of Varnsdorf (approx. 14,800 inhabitants) is the second largest town in the Děčín district and the largest town in the Šluknov region. It is surrounded on three sides by the border with the Federal Republic of Germany. Since 2003 it has been a town with a municipal authority and a municipality with extended competence.

The town has an industrial, but also a garden character. The original scattered village layout is still visible, forming a unique urban complex. In 1849, the largest village of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was formed by the merger of a number of small settlements, and 19 years later it was declared a town. Since 1980 the village of Studánka has been administratively attached to Varnsdorf.
