The Voice of the North is a fortnightly newspaper for the citizens of Varnsdorf and its surroundings. The publisher is the municipality of Varnsdorf, the rights and obligations of the publisher are exercised by the municipal council of Varnsdorf. The publisher's representative is an authorized member of the Varnsdorf municipal council.

The main task of the "Voice of the North" is to provide news and information about political, social, cultural and sporting events in the town and its surroundings. It also provides an appropriate space for civic associations, political parties and movements as well as individual citizens (correspondents) who have the opportunity to express their views on life and events in the city and its surroundings. It also publishes paid advertising. As a rule, 22 issues are published per year, usually 8-12 B4 pages and 2 A4 pages. The number of pages can change if the current demand requires it.
