National Park České Švýcarsko (Czech Switzerland)

National Park
České Švýcarsko
(Czech Switzerland)

On 1st January 2000 the most beautiful and the most valuable part of the Labe Sandstone Rocks became the fourth national park in the Czech Republic – the National Park Czech Switzerland. There are an immense number of spots of natural beauty in the area of only 79 square kilometres. A lot of them are so unique that you will find ones comparing to them nor in the Czechlands nor in the rest of Europe.

From the south and northeast the Park neighbours the Landscape Reservation Labe Sandstone Rocks (http://www.decin.space.cz/chkolp)the area of which is 245 sq. kilometres now, and that was established in 1972. Next to the Park in the east the Landscape Reservation Lužické hory (http://www.schkocr.cz/chran_luzicke-hory.htm) spreads in the area of 267 sq. kilometres. The Reservation was established in 1975.

Because nature does not respect any borders, the beauty of this marvellous rocky countryside continues on the German side as the National Park Saxon Switzerland in the area of another nearly 94 sq. kilometres so the hikers and cyclists can enjoy seeing both national parks without any problems.
